'Speak Up' is a National Theatre-funded scheme for schools around the UK. I went into St Edward's Church of England Academy to make two films with two sets of Y7 students, about topics of their choosing.
Maddy Chapman, the 'Speak Up' Rep, had collected thoughts and ideas from the students, that Maddy and I then turned into scripts. We then made these films with the kids over the course of three sessions in the school, using a combination of collage, 2D hand-drawn, and stop-motion animation.
